Intertexuality means 'the shaping of texts meanings by
other texts' - In many different films or TV programmes some texts refer
directly to each other and make different remarks about them.
Intertextual
figures include allusion, quotation and parody. This means it can help the
audience take further meanings away from the text.
The assignment
of a text to a genre provides the audience of the text with a key intertextual
framework.
